From Survival to Purpose: Building a Better Life With My Son

For many years, I believed that success meant simply working harder.

I took the long road.

I worked tirelessly, made sacrifices, and spent years putting survival and financial security ahead of the things that mattered most—my time, my family, and the freedom to truly enjoy life.

My journey began in the Philippines, where I worked as a dental assistant. Later, I became a nanny in Italy and eventually moved to Canada in 2015, determined to build a better future for my family.

Every move came with uncertainty. Every job required sacrifice. And like so many newcomers, I was willing to do whatever it took to create a better life for my children.

But eventually, I started asking myself:

What if there was another way?

In 2020, I discovered Greatway Financial.

What attracted me wasn't simply the opportunity to earn more. It was learning that success didn't always have to mean working harder and sacrificing more. I was introduced to a system, training, mentorship, and a community that showed me how to work smarter while building something of my own.

Slowly, my life began to change.

I started building a career in financial services, growing in confidence, creating new opportunities, and experiencing a level of financial and time freedom I once thought was out of reach.

Along the way, I was recognized as a Senior Vice President, traveled to places I once only dreamed of visiting, and—most importantly—was able to create a better life for my children.

But the greatest part of my journey isn't the title, the recognition, or the travel.

It's my son.

Today, my son and I are both financial advisors, working side by side with a shared purpose: helping others protect what matters most, strengthen their financial future, and create positive change in their lives.

There is something incredibly fulfilling about realizing that the sacrifices I made yesterday helped create opportunities for my family today—and that we can now help other families do the same.

That's why I continue to do this work.

Because I know what it's like to start with very little. I know what it's like to work hard and wonder if there is a better way. And I know how powerful it can be when someone finally gives you the knowledge, support, and opportunity to see what's possible.
